U13 League Fixture White’s Cross v Clondrohid

White’s Cross continued their U13 Football League away to Clondrohid on Sunday 20th March. The lads in green made a great start with Corey Cambridge tormentor in chief notching up 1-1 inside the opening ten minutes. Clondrohid to their credit never let the heads drop and rattled over 3 unanswered points before a second Cambridge goal gave the Cross breathing room again.
The home team pointed again to keep in touch but before half time Corey Cambridge added a point before securing a hatrick of goals. In the games best move, White’s Cross through Aaron Kent from the back led to Jonathan Noonan kicking a fine point to leave it White’s Cross 3-3 to 0-4 up at half time.
To their credit Clondrohid came raging back at White’s Cross in the second half and soon cut the deficit with a rally of points. 2 Goals brought them ahead and only for a wonderful diving save from Cross Keeper Jack Kiely it might have been curtains. White’s Cross however managed to stand up and be counted and Ronan Quain and Padraig Cloran led the charge from the back. A Sean Kelly free gave White’s Cross hope before Billy O Hara helped himself to a goal and a point to leave the sides level with minutes left. It was left to star man Corey Cambridge to sweep over the winning point to give White’s Cross their 2nd win from 3 league games.

White’s Cross U13 Update

Whites Cross U13 V Dripsey Away 28-02-11

Whites Cross made a slow start to their U13 league campaign and soon found themselves trailing a dogged Dripsey Team by 6 points to no score at half time.
The scoreline was harsh on the Cross as players like Colin McCarthy and Seamus Quinlan were having fine games for the boys in green.
Dripsey extended their score to 0-7 in the second half but Whites Cross came roaring back.
Substitute Sean Kelly was the game changer as he caused the Dripsey defence all sorts of bother bagging 2 goals to put Whites Cross back in the hunt. The men in green swarmed all over the opposition and continued their deadly form in front of goal with the excellent Colin McCarthy and little assassin Adam Kent also netting vital goals.
Dripsey could only respond with 2 points and at the final whistle Whites Cross were to edge the game 5-1 to 0-9. Defence was the key to victory with Ronan Quain and Cian O Connell holding firm in the full back line and the likes of Cillian Hall and Jack Kiely, in goal, put in strong showings.

Whites Cross U13 V Cill Na Matra Home 06-03-11

For the second week in a row Whites Cross made a slow start and soon found themselves trailing their well drilled West Cork Rivals by 5 points after 15 mins of the U13 Football League game. But Fiachra O Connell with a trade mark goal brought Whites Cross back into it. Cill na Matra were the better team by a distance in the first half and despite Billy O Hara pointing for Whites Cross the men from the West lead 1-10 to 1-1 at half time. But this Whites Cross team doesn’t give up and a few half time changes began to pay dividends with Corey Cambridge starting to dominate and the O Connell cousins Ryan and Craig offering strength and skill to the teams efforts. Sean Kelly began to get into the game and tack on the scores while the introduction of the Royal twins saw Whites Cross dominate the game. Corey Cambridge began to run riot and ended with a tally of 2-2 and Billy O Hara added valuable scores. Despite the Whites Cross team laying siege to the Cill na Matra goal in the end they ran out of time and were narrowly beaten by 4 points with the final score Whites Cross 3-9 Cill na Matra 2-16.
