2013 Fee Paying Communication

Dear Parents/Guardians,

For some weeks now White’s Cross Juvenile GAA Club has been discussing the charging of Membership / Training Fees in light of the ongoing difficult economic times and have decided to streamline our fee charging arrangements. We hope that the new arrangements will offer more flexibility to parents and make payment easier and more cost effective.

In past years we have not charged an annual membership fee as such but instead charged a weekly fee of €3 each / €5 per family during the playing season to cover membership and training expenses.

We have now agreed that as and from Friday 22nd February 2013 every child will pay €2 per week to cover Membership and Training Fees – even if there is more than one training session and/or game in the week.
As many parents have requested an option to pay in advance we will facilitate this request.
Parents now have the OPTION to pay upfront for the year €60 for one child, €120 for two children or €180 for three or more children.
This will cover ALL outdoor training sessions for the year. When training moves indoors due to weather, then a €2 charge will apply for those weeks, to assist with the cost of hiring the Hall.

Parents are free to decide which form of payment best suits their own circumstances.

Advance payments can be made over the coming weeks to any of the coaches or Club officers.  Cheques should be made payable to White’s Cross Juvenile GAA.

Those preferring to pay the weekly €2 fee should pay it to the coaches at the beginning of each training session, as per the old system.

If any person has a particular difficulty with the above please do bring it to the attention of a committee member of your choice and we will come up with a satisfactory solution.  We are extremely grateful to all players and parents for their ongoing support to the Club and look forward together to a successful year ahead.

A Defibrillator for White’s Cross Pitch

A Defibrillator for Whites Cross Pitch

The Juvenile Committee are delighted to announce we have received a defibrillator for White’s Cross Pitch. Two of our Committee members recently travelled to Dublin to training and a presentation where a large number of defibrillators were presented to over 22 clubs, schools and community groups across the country including White’s Cross GAA.

In 2011 White’s Cross Juvenile Club embarked on the “Fones4Life” scheme where in exchange for 250 old mobile phones a life-saving defibrillator could be obtained from “Heartsafety Solutions”. In November 2012 we reached our target !   We could not have done this without the help of the club members, their parents and friends of the club who worked hard over the past year and a half collecting old mobile phones. We would like to sincerely thank everyone for their efforts.

The Defibrillator will be placed at White’s Cross pitch and will benefit the club in the fight against Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).  This is a condition in which the heart suddenly stops beating. SCA usually causes death if not treated in minutes.  Having a Defibrillator in close proximity and providing Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) treatment greatly increases the survival rate of victims.

Previously in 2011, and in parallel to engaging in the “Fones4Life” scheme, White’s Cross GAA also donated a defibrillator to the Upper Glanmire Community Centre.  It was our way of applauding the Upper Glanmire Community Association’s efforts in putting an outstanding new sports facility in place in the heart of our community.  We thank all those who contributed to our fundraising appeals of the time – these defibrillators located at the fulcrum of two of the busiest meeting points in our community are very welcome assets.  Here’s hoping however we will never have reason to use!

To date a number of our trainers and some parents have attended training courses on the use of the defibrillator and CPR . We will in the coming months co-ordinate more courses and we would welcome and greatly encourage as many people as possible to participate in this crucial training.
