Book Now for Discounts at White’s Cross GAA Cúl Camp

White’s Cross GAA has run a GAA summer camp for the past 10 years and is excited to announce details of the 2013 camp! For the past six years our camp has been run in conjunction with the nationally coordinated Cúl Camp umbrella brand. For the first five years Vhi sponsored the Cúl Camps but in 2012 Kellogg’s came on board as the title sponsor.

In celebration of the continuing partnership between the nationally coordinated GAA Cúl Camps and Kellogg’s, promotional packs of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes and Kellogg’s Rice Krispies will again feature a unique code, which can be used online by parents / guardians to receive a €5 discount off the fee of each applicant for the 2013 Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps. The unique codes will be printed on the inside of promotional packs, available in stores and one code can be used per child, per registration, to avail of the €5 discount.

The White’s Cross GAA Cúl Camp will run from Monday, June 24th to Friday, June 28th, 2013. The start time is 12pm on the Monday and 10am each other morning of the week, with the camp finishing all five days at 2:30pm. For those who register online, please note there is an error regarding the dates of our camp — an incorrect date shows for the week of our camp under the heading ‘Chosen Date’. Please ignore this error: the White’s Cross Cúl Camp is taking place just one week this summer and that week is June 24-28 inclusive. It seems the national online booking system is unable to deal with our early starting date – the White’s Cross Camp is the first Cúl Camp of the summer! White’s Cross GAA Kellogg’s Cúl Camp (Code: ACK01) will cater for boys & girls from 5 to 13 years.

The White’s Cross Cúl Camp will take place at Upper Glanmire Community Centre & White’s Cross GAA Grounds – we are most grateful to Upper Glanmire Community Association for the use of their outstanding sports hall and outdoor facilities. Registration on the first day will take place at the Community Centre.

Participants will receive jersey, shorts, socks and gear-bag; Kellogg’s are very fond of the red and white colours and thus the kit is dominantly in those two colours again this summer (which suits us just fine here in the rebel county!), but this time with splashes of green also – another colour we are particularly fond of here in White’s Cross!

For further details and to register online check out www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie . Indeed this site will prove a fun one for the children too as there is the opportunity to check out the family crest and details of players of the same surname who have won All Irelands for the home county – who knows we might even find a family connection to the stars!

Hurling Wall

The hurling wall is getting closer and closer to completion as you can see from the attached photo.
There is huge thanks due to Pat O’Callaghan and his team of helpers for bringing the project this far.
I am sure you will agree that this project wasn’t just built for the needs of the club today but for the needs of this growing club well into the future.
And again it could not have happened without the generous support of all of you and both the adult and juvenile committees are most appreciative.

Coaches at White’s Cross Juvenile GAA Club developing their coaching skills

11 coaches in the Juvenile Club have spent over 6 hours taking a course to further develop their coaching skills.
They spent 3 hours on Monday night last and over 3 hours last night at the Upper Glanmire Community Hall with a coach from the Cork county board. The feedback from the sessions has been very positive indeed and the juvenile club would like to thank them all greatly for giving up so much of their time to learn new skills that they will pass on to all the juvenile players.

Thanks and appreciation goes to Finbarr Pyne for organising this coaching development course. Finbarr , as skills and coaching development officer for the juvenile club ,continues to bring fresh ideas and a lot of energy to this key area.

Please find attached a photo of 10 of the coaches taken last night after completing the course (Marion Delaney is the ’11th person’ missing from the photo)

Again well done and thanks to all the coaches.

Defibrillator at White’s Cross GAA Club

It is with great pleasure that both the juvenile and adult committees would like to communicate that White’s Cross GAA Club now has a defibrillator installed in the club house (see attached photo).
It is the hope that there will never be a need to use this equipment but if it is required either at the club or in the community it is now hanging on the wall just inside the entrance door.

A huge and special thanks goes to Imelda O’Connell who persevered when all seemed lost at one stage in getting the defibrillator to the club. The company that got our batch of used mobile phones went into receivership and we thought that our efforts to secure the defibrillator through this avenue were in vain.
Imelda made many phone calls and wrote many e-mails and continued to negotiate over a number of weeks to get her hands on the defibrillator. To cap it all and not leaving anything to chance she went to Dublin with Marion Delaney to collect it a few weeks ago!

Again this improvement at YOUR club would not have happened without your enormous generosity and goodwill.

Juvenile Update

A great start to the year so far in the competitive leagues.

Well done to the players and coaches for reaching the county semi final of the U14 Féile football. History was made in the club by entering Féile and then to reach the county semi final by eliminating both Aghada and Coursey Rovers was a great achievement.
And to top it all the team held a highly fancied Boherbue team to just 1 point in the first half of the semi final.

The U14s are also doing very well in the football league.

And what a start to the football league for the U12s last Sunday vs St Vincents. A truly great display and a huge win for this bunch of lads.

Fixtures list attached and some games coming up shortly are as follows:
U11F vs Whitechurch on Monday April 1st
U13F vs Clondrohid on Sunday April 7th
U14H vs Shamrocks on Friday April 5th
Minor F vs Ballyphehane on Saturday April 6th
The coaches will text reminders and match details.
