Minor County Semi-Final

Our minor footballers contest the county semi final against Beal Atha n Ghaorthaidh ( Ballingeary ), this Saturday 11th, with a throw in time of 4.15pm in Clondrohid. Our lads have been going well in training and the competition for places has been heating up in recent weeks. Paul Hayes is the only player, who will miss the game through injury and we wish him a speedy recovery. Training for these lads began way back in January and with a lot of them juggling exams and study, it is great to see these lads still standing after a very busy year. After playing 7 league matches the lads narrowly missed out on qualifying for the league final. In the championship a total of 22 teams entered from East and West Cork and now only 4 remain to contest the county semi finals and we are proud to say that our club is still there. The selectors have been delighted with the lads efforts and have stressed that what has been amazing with this squad of 22 players, is that 11 of the lads, still have 2 years or more at this grade while the other 11, it will be there last year playing minor. A lot of friendships have developed between these lads over the year, who wouldn’t  normally mix because of there age differences and a great bond has developed which will last a number of years. These lads give everything for each other and are always encouraging one another to improve and that is all we can ask for. The lads make the long and well deserved trip this Saturday to Clondrohid and we hope that every available White’s Cross supporter can come out and support them. Best Wishes to everyone on Saturday
